The Adventures of Connie the Purple Bus teaches kids the warning signs of appendicitis through a fun and heartfelt story.

New York, United States, 15th Jul 2025 – Chris Alighire is excited to share his new children’s book, The Adventures of Connie the Purple Bus, now available on Amazon. This fun and meaningful children’s book follows a special 1966 microbus named Connie, who helps her friend in a moment of danger while also teaching young readers an important life lesson.

In The Adventures of Connie the Purple Bus, kids will meet Connie, a bright purple 21-window microbus deluxe, living at Eddie King’s garage in Hermosa Beach, California. Connie and her buddy, Jim the Mechanic, enjoy driving around their beach town, picking up locals and sharing good times. But one day, Jim doesn’t feel well. His friend, Dr. Vince, notices something serious—Jim shows four key signs of appendicitis.

Connie quickly jumps into action, rushing Jim to the hospital just in time. After his surgery, Jim writes a short and simple poem to help others learn the four warning signs of appendicitis, so no one else has to go through what he did.

This exciting children’s book tells a story full of adventure, teamwork, and real-life health knowledge in a way that is fun and easy for kids to understand.

About the Author:

Chris Alighire wrote this book with a purpose. After surviving his own near-death experience with a burst appendix, Chris knew he had to spread awareness—especially for kids, who are often the most at risk. “This isn’t just a story,” Chris shares. “It’s a mission to save lives. I was given a second chance, and I want to use it to help children learn the signs of this silent, dangerous illness. One out of every 13 children can get appendicitis, and I want every kid to know how to spot it.”

Chris Alighire is originally from Grandville, Michigan, and now lives in Los Angeles, California. His career has taken him across the country as a stagehand, DJ, and TV personality. He worked on music tours, college events, and even starred on NBC’s Average Joe 4. In 2016, Chris’s life changed forever when he was in a serious accident that left him in a wheelchair for three years. During that time, he also survived a burst appendix during a routine surgery—a moment that almost took his life. Chris was saved in the ER from a code blue, which put him on a mission from God to warn the world about appendicitis so that people’s lives can be saved from this silent deadly killer. This experience inspired him to write The Adventures of Connie the Purple Bus, turning pain into purpose through the power of storytelling.

This children’s book is more than just a fun ride—it’s a guide for awareness. It also promotes kindness and understanding, especially toward children with disabilities. Chris’s story and his book help other kids look beyond differences and see the heart inside every child.

The Adventures of Connie the Purple Bus is now available for purchase on Amazon.
