Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, 4th Jun 2026 – Explora Books will feature three books by award-winning scientist and independent author Geoffrey Bott at the 2026 Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), held June 17–21 at the China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing. Spanning memoir and thriller fiction, the titles collectively reflect a body of work shaped by lived experience, scientific inquiry, and narrative imagination.
Together, the three works offer a cross-section of Bott’s writing from personal memoir to speculative and science-driven fiction.
Uphill is the book that launched Bott’s writing career and remains his most personal work. Combining memoir, recovery narrative, and endurance sports writing, it recounts his survival through thirteen left knee surgeries, a precedent-setting divorce, a forest fire that destroyed his neighborhood, jail, business collapse, and international upheaval. Through it all, Bott continued cycling, ultimately completing California’s infamous Death Ride, a 129-mile, 15,000-foot climb across five mountain passes, after being told he would never ride again. Uphill is written with English humor, candor, and resilience, offering an account of perseverance through extraordinary personal and physical challenges.

Biological Deception introduces Daniel Cross, a renowned British scientist tasked with verifying a multimillion-dollar diamond in Namibia. When the tests prove inconclusive and a Russian operative is assassinated on the streets of Windhoek, Cross becomes entangled in an international conspiracy involving the development of a deadly virus across multiple countries. Drawing on Bott’s scientific background and extensive world travel, the novel combines suspense, political intrigue, and scientific speculation in a fast-moving thriller.
Art of Deception, the second installment in the Daniel Cross trilogy, opens with the destruction of one of the world’s largest container ships in the Panama Canal. As Cross investigates the attack, he discovers that artificial intelligence has been programmed to eliminate him. What follows is a global race against increasingly sophisticated machines capable of infiltrating critical systems, disrupting supply chains, and manipulating world events from a remote island base. Fast-paced and technically grounded, the novel expands the series’s exploration of technology, power, and deception.
Geoffrey Bott is an award-winning scientist, independent author, and electronic engineer trained at the University of Sheffield. He is internationally recognized in the field of mass spectrometry and has contributed to two world-first scientific developments. Bott continues to write from his home in South Lake Tahoe, California, where he develops both memoir and thriller fiction.
Attendees at the 2026 Beijing International Book Fair are invited to view Geoffrey Bott’s memoir, Uphill, and his Daniel Cross thriller series at Explora Books’s exhibition booth 5A.B14 at CNCC in Beijing.
Uphill, Biological Deception, and Art of Deception are available on Amazon and other major digital bookstores.
